Solar Power Installation

solar power installation
What is the most efficient way of powering your home? Do you use solar power, wind turbine, coal?

fire, gas, electric, wood fire, ice blocks and a fan? What works for you, how green is it and why it works for you? Anyone have any additional costs associated with installing or using these options? Any installation professional, or self? What would you say are pros and cons to alternative power sources? What do you think is the cheapest, easiest way to power a home? Would like to hear from folks who have added alternative power sources to their homes and hear your experiences.

I have just answered a Q. similar to this,My G/Fs small holding has no mains, water, sewage, gas or electricity we have a genny that runs the washing machine, T.V & charges a large battery pack we have bottled gas for cooking & heating filtered rain water for showering & washing clothes, a composting toilet, all waste water is collected to water the veggys, when we’ve finished our waste ‘gulper’ we should be able to produce our own gas, the genny runs on bio fuel which we produce & the back up petrol genny runs on methenol, which we also produce, we dont pay any utility bills, how cheap do you want to run? you can only watch T.V for a couple of hours a night, but we’ve got all mod cons!

i live in queens ny with a huge flat roof i want to add solar or even wind power?

I also have a garage roof peaked, to me wasted space south facing. How much to have someone come and install a system, that perhaps pays for itself in 5 years ? Single guy alot of computer , one small ac at night, fridge normal stuff
thanks and any recommendations ?
i would not mind if it just did half my ussage

5 Years is a bit optimistic, unless power costs
go up, (as they well may).
Remember, you get a maximum of about 1 Watt per Sq. Meter of collector, and that’s only for part of the day.
That “small A.C.” may have to go.

Solar Power For Your Home

solar power for your home

How can the cost of a home solar power system installed compared to the cost of utility power? All the power of our house is our dealership Local is a fixed rate based on our monthly consumption, even if the producer uses the power plants, fossil plants, nuclear power plants and generators of wind energy to electricity on the grid. The electric company must continue to spend money for raw materials, maintenance and personnel. The power of a house has a module solar installed on the other hand, cost nothing after the original equipment is paid. grid parity, comparing the cost of electricity, in this case, the cost of energy solar, not comparing the same, namely the energy generated. grid parity for the owner is more like comparing the cost of the electricity network for the cost of a power system solar and how long it will take to recoup the investment on the local rate base. The solar energy sector and energy-related alternatives, is looking forward to a closer parity grid. This parity is more with the incentives, subsidies and better technology for production efficiency and mass for the solar industry.

In lieu of any change in the cost of energy products mansion that the owner has to remind the solar energy, once installed in a house costs almost nothing. There will be some maintenance of a solar power system with battery replacements and occasionally unexpected breakdowns, but that goes for almost anything in a house. The sole owner is able to compare solar energy, then, is the power of the network is not paying.

A way of looking at solar energy is that with the installation of modules, the solar homeowner is now paying for his (hopefully) 20 years of electricity. It's like not paying taxes on their retirement savings in their high rates of incomes today on speculation that pay a lower amount of taxes when you hope in a lower tax bracket when you retire. Given the current lack of interest income from investments, may be more cost effective to install solar system and savings accounts with little or no power, now and then.

Now here's a thought, if you have enough savings for retirement and not incur in severe penalties, it would be cheaper for you to invest in a solar energy system for your home and recover its economy from month to month electric bill is not paying more? There are many considerations a homeowner should look at making this a viable plan. It is not at home all the world is in one place Solar favorable. For example, if the roof or front property in the right direction? You have adequate square footage for the settlement you need? You have enough open land, not the shadow of their need for solar energy? If you are not planning on staying in your existing home, investment or at least add solar offset the cost of your doing?

Here's another thought on power, I believe that no electricity will lower their rates if you install solar panels on a large scale once they have paid for itself? Do you want to continue supporting the service utility or a living? Now you can justify installing a power system solar for your home? It is true that the installation of a modular solar system may not work for all families and all financial situations, but is an option that should not neglected.

Residential Solar Energy

Anyone out there with a Stirling engine heated by solar energy to generate residential electricity?

I am a general contractor in Texas, currently I am creating a family atmosphere enjoyable for me and for the young family to live, I see my options for generating electricity, or PV, with generators of the battery and inverter, bio diesel, the Stirling engine powered by the sun, where the solar wind compensation. I have a project for a Trombe wall, to help cool the house in summer and warm in winter. H2O heaters solar energy is a no brainer, my brother in the UK has one and has a wealth of Hot H20. The cooling system is likely to include geothermal energy, once again a large number of systems available, unfortunately for the masses these systems are more expensive than traditional power suction compressors and heat exchangers. Hopefully the time spent on renewable energy for my house that government will offer over a $ 2000.00 tax credit for investment. If so, please send me the details.

Yes, but I live in England

Home Solar?

It is convenient to retro fit in a house with solar energy? The solar panels have become inexpensive enough for the owner home average use? What is the price of an average home of 1,800 square feet is the same figure. Any thoughts and ideas would be appreciated.

Normally retro-adaptation a house is not practical. My parents built a solar house on the southern tip of the TC 1970 and the location of the house on the property, the orientation of the home, the latitude, length, the materials used for collecting and storing solar energy – and lots of other options that had to do before you can obtain a permit. Link below is for Real Goods, which is a reliable source of solar technology for the people of DIY, then the second link includes re: FAQ: Resources necessary for domestic solar energy. My husband and I visited a house with solar energy in the Old Testament is presented in the newsletter of real estate – lived people completely outside the system – this was eight years ago.

Solar energy for hot water?

I need to set the hot water through solar energy? I had seen many sites and I get confussed! boilers, photovoltaic panels, the im lost! I do not want to look for installers is on research, I need?

There are two different systems used in solar thermal energy. First is to have collectors on the roof and glycol pumped through the lines in a heat exchanger in the tank solar. The heat exchanger heats the water inside the solar tank, and then the existing hot water heater said solar hot water storage tank. The other way is with a heat exchanger strapon heat that is connected to the existing reservoir, using a small space. So if you just take hot water for domestic use (water for showers, fountains, etc. ..), has two thermal panels, a storage tank (80 liters), copper tube in the tube glycol, a pump controller, expansion vessel, valves ball, and a check valve. do not get the complicated, forget the boilers and pv. Boilers are used in floor heating only (residential, of course). Some houses old may have gas or diesel boilers age thermal panels can be attached to use the same method that a hot water heater. Hope this helps.
